Tomatoes are abundant this month. From tiny clusters of cherry tomatoes to gigantic heirloom varieties more fruits are ripening each day. If needed keep staking your large fruits with bamboo trellises or garden twine to help keep them off the ground. When the sun is really beating keep an eye on your plants and give them a little extra water if needed, making sure the foliage has time to dry before sunset. Watching your plants each day is a good strategy for controlling pests as well. Sometimes the task of harvesting all we’ve planted is daunting. One great idea is to simply freeze whole tomatoes for cooking later. Check out this great idea for adding these frozen treats to a Frozen Bloody Mary!
